Debts

I don't know how everything started but by the time I knew I was already with a $10,000 credit card debt which with time instead of getting reduced it was getting worst. In about four years I had a almost $20,000 credit card debt for which I was only paying the minimum payment every month. At this time I was only about 19 years old and I already had approximately more then ten credit cards from almost every company possible. I was already worry by the time I hit the almost $20,000 so I try to take measures that did not work well like try not to shop much, because I was not committed to it and I kept shopping. I guess we can say I'm a shopaholic, I was spending more then I was supposed to but not anymore. Now I am careful with my shopping impulses, I try not to buy more then what I can afford. I'm so happy to say that this weekend I'm finally credit card debt free and I did it all by my self. First thing I did was cut down on my expenses which meant not to go to shopping malls not even to Target or Walmart unless it was really necessary. With all of my income tax returns from 2006 to 2010 I went paying the credit cards one by one, now I just need to keep it that. I never knew how much responsibility and how stressing is to owe so much money so young and in such a short period of time but it taught me a great lesson.

Woman of inspiration

Today I have been doing a project over Clara Barton The founder of the American Red cross. She was a heroic women back in the 1880's when the civil war started. She was the first woman to be granted a permission to go in to the battlefields to aid the injured soldiers. Even though her first attempts of helping the soldiers was not successful she tried again and again, nursing the soldiers. She made an Organization to collect supplies to personally distribute it to the needy soldiers. Before the civil war she was a teacher for about 18 years and established the first free school in New Jersey, which she left after the towns officials appointed a male director over her. She then left to Washington and worked as a copyist in a patent office. Clara then went to Europe were she discovered the International Red Cross and the Treaty of Geneva. In Europe she also helped nurse the wounded soldiers of the Franco-Prussian war. When she returned to The United States she worked hard for many years so the US government signed the Treaty Of Geneva which other nations in Europe had already joined. With the signed of this treaty Clara and other supporters found the American Red Cross. This is just a short summery of all the good things she did. Her story inspired me after reading her story, hope it inspires you a little.

Summer

I love the weather in Georgia, specially Summer season, everything about the Summer is so much better then when we are in Winter season. When I used to live in New York winters were very cold and had to wear many layers of clothing to be able to tolerate the cold weather since we walked or took transportation such as the bus and trains to get to any place in town. I really hated to wear two pairs of socks, a set of pants, two shirts and a sweater, gloves, scarf, a coat and sometimes ear muffins. Summer seasons in New York as i remember it are hot but the tall buildings provides shades which is great. Even though the weather in New York is not one of my favorite things from this city i can’t help feel nostalgia when i think of New York the place i grew up in. Georgia in the other hand has a weather in the Summer somewhat like in the Dominican Republic, very hot tropical weather that creates for me a great ambiance, I even feel happy when the weather is warm. Winters in Georgia compare to New York is not all that cold and Spring season is just lovely. In not in any of the seasons in Georgia i have to wear many layers of clothing, my main concern with weather having to wear too many unnecessary clothing.

Vacation

Vacationing is one of my desires at this moment. With all the stress of school, work and family it would be lovely to go explore a new place. I have five years that came from New york to Georgia and Georgia is a real boring state compare to New York. Last time I went to a vacation was like five years ego to visit my country, the Dominican Republic. A well deserve vacation spot would be Los Cabos San Lucas in Mexico, it has everything I’m looking for in a vacation; beaches, a warm climate, spas and delicious food. Another place I will like to go for a vacation is Jamaica it also has the features I’m looking for in a vacation beaches, a warm climate, delicious food and spas in the resort. I can already imagine my self laying in the beach drinking a cocktail such as a margarita, or getting a massage in the beach. If i don’t go to any vacation any soon at least I will like to go to one of Florida’s beaches and Orlando’s Universal Studios, have fun with the rides and food. I just hope I get to go some where different and fun this summer to relieve some stress.

World Cup Fever

The world cup has had a great deal of attention from people, also allot of infomercial and propaganda. Know even I’m more interest in soccer as they call it in the US and football in Spanish cultures. My fiance is so in to this game that he suspended work for the hours of the game between Mexico and South Africa to see this game, he never suspends any of his work projects for anything; not for his birthday, not even for Christmas. His favorite team is the Mexican team since he is form Mexico and also Brazil since he is really close to people from Brazil. I’m not from Mexico, but from Dominican Republic which didn't make it not even close to any world game, but I still watch and enjoyed it very much. Then I watched the game between England and USA, great game. Now I even have my top three favorites, number one is Brazil because I think is a better team then Mexico and because I love the Brazilian culture. Second Mexico because of my fiance and I also love this culture. Third but not least United States because is my adoptive country were i grew up and is a country I love too. Now I’m going to be watching all games of Brazil, Mexico and USA.

Money

How much money is it enough? How much money does someone think it is needed to live? Money is needed for survival and it has become an issue for many people. Some people say that money is not everything needed for happiness but I don’t see how we can be happy without it these days. To have a place to live money is needed to pay for housing and utilities such as water, electricity and are of a more necessity than cable and telephone bills. To live we need to eat, food is not free even though there is help for those who really cannot afford it but for the rest of the people money is needed to buy food and water. The source of money is to have a job and work which are difficult to find this days. Without money we weren’t going to be able to live for long. To me money is needed to have happiness, many people are struggling with the stress of not having enough money live. Money is essential to live; now days if you don’t have money be prepare for the struggles and difficulties that are going to be coming your way.

Obesity

The United States and other countries of the world have survived many obstacles which led to improvement. Today we are facing serious problem with health issues. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) over weight and obesity has become an epidemic in most parts of the world including the United State. Obesity has increase more than double since thirty years ago; this problem has many causes such as new bad eating habits and lack of physical activities. Obesity and overweight is a health issue because of its list of bad effects in people’s health. Obesity can cut someone’s life spam short because it makes the obese person more burnable to high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, back pain, fractures and other incidents caused by the overweight the body is carrying. People of all ages are suffering from this epidemic, children now weight much more than thirty years ago. The junk food and lack of activities are also causing a problem in children; an example of this is type 1 diabetes on kids under 16 years of age. Changes in our life is needed, changes in food and daily activities should be a must. First consciousness and then education can play a key role for surviving this epidemic.
